Guidelines for face to face sessions during Covid-19
This page contains important information about our decision (yours and mine) to undertake or resume face to face sessions in light of the COVID-19 public health crisis. Please read this thoroughly and let me know if you have any questions.
On attendance I will be asking you to sign a copy of this guidance.
I have undertaken a Covid-19 risk assessment and put the following measures in place
-
Arrive for your appointment at the allotted time, not any earlier as there is no space for waiting.
-
Do not attend an appointment if you or anyone you have had contact with has had symptoms of Covid-19 (i.e. persistent cough, fever, loss of taste and smell, difficulty breathing etc.) in the last 14 days. In this case sessions will be conducted over the phone/online during the isolation period
-
Attend appointments on your own.
-
I may request to take your temperature on arrival.
-
Chairs, door handles, buzzers and any areas touched by anyone will be cleaned/sprayed with disinfectant between sessions
-
Hand sanitiser is available, and I would ask you to please use it on entering the room.
-
Face masks are available. If you wish to wear one and/or wish me to wear one do ask.
-
Bring your own drinks and tissues and take them away with you after the session
-
If you need to use the toilet please ensure you wash your hands thoroughly afterwards and use a paper towel to dry them
-
Toilets will be cleaned after each use
-
If the government/local area/BACP/insurance guidance changes at any time, sessions will have to change to telephone/online
-
There are reduced slots available for face to face sessions to allow for cleaning and airing of the room in between sessions.
-
The window will be open during sessions for ventilation, so if it is a cold day please dress warmly.
-
Social distance should be maintained at all times when entering, leaving or in the room. As you come in I will buzz you up then stand in the kitchen while you come up the stairs and enter the room. On leaving I shall do this in reverse to ensure we maintain social distance
-
If you have tested positive for Covid-19, I may be required to confirm to local health authorities that you have been in my office. In the event that I test positive for COVID-19, I shall be required to inform local health authorities who I have recently been in contact with. If I have to report information in either of these situations, I will only provide the minimum information necessary for their data collection and will not go into details about the reason for our meeting.
COVID-19 Symptoms
The main symptoms of Covid-19 are:
• a high temperature – a temperature of over 37.8oC – if you do not have a thermometer a having a temperature means you will feel hot to touch on your chest or back
• A new, continuous cough - coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual)
• A loss/change to your sense of smell or taste: you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal
If you develop one of these symptoms, you should follow the Government self-isolation guidance, and apply for a Covid-19 test by calling 119.
